National Physician Payment Transparency (OPEN PAYMENTS)
OPEN PAYMENTS (Federal Sunshine Act) is the name of the CMS website where information for applicable manufacturers, physicians and teaching hospitals is posted, and where the payment and transfers of value data will be available for public access. The US Federal Sunshine Act requires manufacturers to report payments or transfers of value to US physicians and US teaching hospitals to CMS, with penalties for non-compliance. CMS has required companies to begin collecting data as of August 1, 2013. Most direct and indirect payments and transfers of value (PTOVs) to US licensed physicians and US Teaching Hospitals ("covered Recipients") are reportable including applicable grants, sponsorships and memberships.
