Making a meaningful difference for people and communities
At AstraZeneca we are deeply committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of people and the communities in which they live.
As a business, we follow the science to deliver products that improve health outcomes for the millions of patients who rely on us. Our commitment extends far beyond our medicines; we offer programs that advance patient health and access along the care continuum, drive health and science innovation, and help ensure the sustainability of our people and our planet.
We do this through a combination of partnership development, philanthropy, advocacy, thought leadership and volunteerism. Read more about our priorities and performance in this section.
Advancing patient health
A healthier world begins with education to help individuals make informed decisions and navigate available tools and resources. We support programs along the care continuum that empower patients and families to play an active informed role in the management of their health, and strengthen the quality and delivery of services they receive.
Health and science innovation
Continued improvements to health outcomes will rely on innovation. AstraZeneca is supporting the development of the next generation of scientists and strengthening the independent medical education provided to current students and practitioners. We also contribute thought leadership to drive growth in the life sciences sector.
Improving access to care
Providing access to care for all is a significant and complex global challenge. At AstraZeneca, we focus primarily on helping people to afford their medication. In communities with limited healthcare infrastructure and significant unmet public health need, we partner with others to strengthen healthcare frameworks and capabilities and donate medication and supplies.
Supporting our communities
We believe a healthier world cannot come from medicines alone and understand the value of collaboration and partnerships. Whether you’re a non-profit, patient advocate, medical professional or researcher, AstraZeneca realizes the value of the work that you are doing. We provide support for eligible programs through the following mechanisms. Learn more about each and submit an application.
The AstraZeneca HealthCare Foundation is a Delaware not-for-profit corporation that provides grant support for qualified exempt organizations consistent with its charitable purpose to promote public awareness of healthcare issues and advance public education of medical knowledge. The Foundation is separate from the commercial entity, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals.
New medicines are our lifeblood at AstraZeneca—both small molecule and biological products that address the unanswered needs challenging patients, families, and caregivers. Our clinical trials are guided by global standards and by our concern for the lives of the patients who put their trust in us. We are committed to maintaining ethical sales and marketing practices, and ensuring the integrity of our medicines throughout the manufacturing and supply process.
We believe that providing information to the public about our company, our medicines and how we do business serves the best interests of patients, investors and other stakeholders. We view the way we conduct our business as a great responsibility for our company and all of our employees, and it is critically important to us that the public trusts our ability to carry out this responsibility ethically and in the best interest of patient health.
