AstraZeneca’s Aradhana Sarin Named to CNBC’s 2024 Changemakers: Women Transforming Business List

AstraZeneca’s Chief Financial Officer, Aradhana Sarin, today was named to CNBC’s inaugural Changemakers: Women Transforming Business List. The annual, unranked list spotlights a diverse group of women whose accomplishments have left an indelible mark on the business world.

Aradhana Sarin, AstraZeneca Chief Financial Officer, said: “I am honored to be recognized among such an accomplished and inspiring list of women who are blazing trails in the business world. While there is still work to be done to ensure gender equality in leadership positions globally, I am proud to work for a company where 50.1% of our senior, middle management roles and above are filled by women. I am the beneficiary of all the accomplishments of the women before and around me and hope that I can pass that along to the next generation of female leaders.”

A physician by training, Aradhana grew up in Tanzania where she practiced medicine during the HIV AIDS pandemic in East Africa. The experience made her realize the power of science and innovation, which inspired her to embark on a new career path to study business at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. After receiving her MBA, Aradhana went on to work on Wall Street in investment banking, where she spent the next two decades advising clients in the life sciences and biopharmaceutical sectors. In 2017, Aradhana joined Alexion as Chief Business and Strategy Officer and subsequently the Chief Financial Officer. In 2021, following the acquisition of Alexion by AstraZeneca, she was appointed Chief Financial Officer of AstraZeneca.

Aradhana is on the Board of Governors of the American Red Cross and is an independent director of Anheuser-Busch InBev.
