Tarek leads the Renal-Cardio Therapy Area and is responsible for the performance of commercial business unit and the sales strategy of the Renal-Cardio Specialty selling teams.
Most recently, Tarek served as Vice President, Global Diabetes Injectables in Global Product and Portfolio Strategy (GPPS) and, in this role, developed a global commercial strategy and prepared for a key launch in our diabetes portfolio.
Prior to this, Tarek was Area Vice President, Middle East & Africa, based in Dubai, where he articulated a clear strategy to drive double-digit growth, and launched the Healthy Heart Africa program to alleviate the burden of hypertension in the continent. He joined AstraZeneca Brazil in 2006.
Tarek began his career at Novartis where he held several local and global commercial roles in Brazil, Venezuela, Switzerland and Japan.
