AstraZeneca returns to compete at the National Summer Senior Games this July as a fourth-time sponsor of the largest multi-sport event in the world for women and men age 50 and over.
AstraZeneca’s ongoing commitment to enhance health and wellness for people of all ages inspires the company’s support of the National Senior Games. The National Senior Games Association, a non-profit member of the United States Olympic Committee, is dedicated to motivating senior men and women to lead a healthy lifestyle through the senior games movement.
“We promote healthy choices at every stage of life as a leading healthcare company, and the athletes who compete at the Senior Games embody that value,” said John McCarthy, Vice President, Commercial Strategy & Operations. “It’s truly inspiring to see their dedication to staying active and competing in sports they love.”
Senior athletes from all over the country will travel to Cleveland, Ohio to compete in 18 sports from July 19 through Aug. 1. AstraZeneca will send eight employee athletes to the National Senior Games this year:

- Mitchell Doub, Track
- Edna H. Hecht, Track & Field
- Katherine Karageorges-Sharp, Swimming
- Wayne Michelcavage, Volleyball
- Tom Selestok, Bowling
- Janet Stoltenborg, Archery
- Zhiping You, Badminton
