Rodney Gillespie, Executive Business Director in Sales at AstraZeneca, has been recognized by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America as a National Advocacy Champion for his efforts in policy advocacy and community service.
The Champion Awards program, created by the industry-wide “We Work For Health” initiative, honors employees who go above and beyond their job descriptions to give back to their communities and advocate policy issues on behalf of the industry.
Rodney represents AstraZeneca on the Corporate Advisory Council for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and on the 21st Century Council for the Congressional Black Caucus Institute. In these roles, he provides the industry perspective and engages members, advocating for policies and practices that help support patient health and access to medicines.
He is also a board member for the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League, and a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, a community service organization that develops leaders, promotes brotherhood, academic excellence and advocacy for the community.
PhRMA honored 11 individuals from 10 biopharmaceutical companies with the Champion Award this year at their Annual Meeting on April 11. See them all here.
