Tom is responsible for developing the US Business strategy and objectives and the implementation of the key strategic programs. His responsibilities also include managing the major governance processes for the US business.
Prior to Tom’s current role, he served in a similar capacity providing strategic management for initiatives to support the Americas Region. Before that, Tom was the Secretariat for the US Leadership Team where he was responsible for the delivery of the US strategic objectives and the management of the Business Process Leadership Teams (BPLT). Tom joined AstraZeneca in 2004 as a Senior Director for Sales Strategy and Execution.
After graduating from the Military Academy at West Point, Tom served six years in the Army and then held various sales and sales management positions at IBM before doing strategy work for Gemini Consulting. He designed and led major organizational transformation programs at CIGNA P&C before joining AstraZeneca. His work has been detailed in several Harvard Business School cases and noted in several books on strategic management from the authors of The Balanced Scorecard.
