Marta Brito PérezVice President, Human Resources,
North America & Global Marketing

Responsibilities

Marta Brito Pérez leads AstraZeneca’s human resources operations for North America and Global Marketing. In this role, Marta is instrumental in developing and executing initiatives that enhance employee engagement and ensure a pipeline of robust talent. With a strong record of designing strategies and driving change to make organizations more competitive and results-oriented, Marta provides leadership in the effective development and execution of the company’s people strategy.

Prior Experience

Prior to joining AstraZeneca in January 2008, Marta was the Chief Human Capital Officer of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Appointed to that role by President George Bush, she was responsible for all aspects of managing Homeland Security’s human resources, including the development, education and training of more than 180,000 DHS employees.  Prior to her role at DHS, Marta was the government-wide lead for the human capital initiative under the President’s Management Reform Agenda at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM). While there, she led strategic efforts to transform human capital management for the 1.8 million federal employees. Marta developed the U.S. government’s unified scorecard objectives for human capital management and ensured measurable results against those objectives across all major federal agencies.  Before joining OPM, Marta was Director of the Office of Human Resources for the Montgomery County, Maryland Government. In that position, she oversaw all aspects of human resources management for more than 10,000 employees and 4,000 retired employees and their dependents.

  • Master of science degree in organization development and human resources, The Johns Hopkins University
  • Bachelor of arts degree in criminology, University of Maryland
  • Alumna of the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government
