Carbocaine (mepivacaine)
Carbocaine (mepivacaine) is an amide-type local anaesthetic, with a medium duration of action, which provides an alternative to Xylocaine (lidocaine) in medical anaesthesia. It can be used for a number of anaesthetic techniques, including local infiltration, minor and major nerve blocks, epidural block, arthroscopy and intravenous regional anaesthesia.
